Inaugurated in 1971, Vinh Nghiem Pagoda is noteworthy for its vast sanctuary and eight-storey tower, each level of which contains a statue of the Buddha.
It was built with help from Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association, which explain the presence of Japanese elements in its architecture. At the base of the tower (open only on holidays) is a shop selling Buddhist ritual objects. Behind the sanctuary is a three-storey tower, which serves as a repository for carefully labeled ceramic urns containing the ashes of people who have been cremated. The pagoda is just off Nam Ky Khoi Nghia St, in District 3.
