Houses in a grand French-colonial building 6km south of Nha Trang’s main post office in the port district of Cau Da (also called Cau Be) is the Oceanographic Institute. Founded in 1923, it has an aquarium and specimen room open to the public; it also has a library. The 23 tanks on the ground floor are home to a variety of colorful live specimens of local marine life, including seahorses.
